MacMat® is a three-dimensional flexible geomat with more than 90% gaps, manufactured from thick polypropylene filaments fused at the contact points, it stands out for its flexibility and practicality, as it begins to work immediately after being installed, covering and protecting the soil from the action of rain and wind, the main causes of erosive processes.
Its function, in addition to those already mentioned above, is also to facilitate the growth of vegetation, as it avoids consumables such as: corrective, fertilizers, seeds and soil conditioners, since on slopes greater than 10 ° the carry of these materials is produced due to surface slippage.
It is indicated for slope situations susceptible to erosive processes, with small heights and gentle slopes.
Our MacMat® L composite is a standard MacMat® geomat (three-dimensional matrix with biconical shape formed by extrusion of polymer filaments) thermally bonded to a reinforced geomembrane. The geomembrane is a woven polypropylene geotextile laminated on both sides with a polypropylene film.
MacMat® L is suitable for erosion controls that also require a lining and protection function of the protected area.
Small ditches or drainage ditches are typical applications.
Macmat® R is a geomat with a UV stabilized three-dimensional matrix, non-degradable synthetic fibers, heat-welded fiber crosses and extruded on a double torsion steel woven mesh. The hexagonal mesh with double braided steel wire has mechanical characteristics superior to those recommended in the EN 10223-3 standard. The steel cable is high-strength galvanized and can also be protected with an extruded polymeric coating for added protection.
When used on vulnerable soil slopes exposed to erosion, MacMat® R immediately increases soil resistance to erosion by providing an environment conducive to growth of vegetation through the mat. A quality topsoil is introduced into the 3D matrix of the mat after installation.
It is also used in waterways to provide protection against hydraulic erosion. The MacMat® R is secured to the ground using suitable bolts or stakes as required by the project.
However, its most common use is on steep, bolted slopes; The bolts provide overall slope reinforcement to the MacMat® R by providing surface reinforcement and support between the bolt heads.
Macmat® R Polymer is a geomat with a UV stabilized three-dimensional matrix, non-degradable synthetic fibers, heat-welded fiber crosses, extruded on a woven polymeric mesh reinforcement. The reinforcing strength of the geogrid can be selected based on the requirements of the project.

Its most common use, however, is in protection works intended for filling membranes or in mine rehabilitation works. Geogrid reinforcement provides increased structural integrity when the geomat is used to contain and reinforce the soil on high slopes.
MacMat® HS is the next generation of high performance geomatting that combines a reinforced three-dimensional matrix polymer geomat with Maccaferri’s Steelgrid® system. It is used for demanding slope stabilization applications that require a combination of erosion protection and surface stabilization.
The reinforcing double torsion steel hexagonal wire mesh has a mechanical strength that exceeds that recommended by EN 10223-3. The wire is galvanized for high strength with Zn-Al alloy according to 10244-2, class A. Galvanized wire and reinforcing cables are also available with an additional polymeric coating. The mechanical resistance of the product (to traction and to perforation) is the same as that of the Maccaferri Steelgrid®.
