ROCKFALL – DEBRIS FLOW BARRIERS

Debris Flow Barriers

Our DF series of debris flow barriers have been developed to contain soil / water flows (debris flows) or surface landslides on slopes, channels and gutters.

DF barriers are customized to fit the dimensions of the project. Upon impact by the debris flow, the DF Barrier progressively deforms with compression brakes and energy absorbing systems. The hydrostatic pressure of the flow dissipates rapidly once the debris flow has been stopped, leaving the larger volume debris within the barrier.

Attenuating / Hybrid Barriers

Strongly based on our dynamic rockfall barriers, our Hybrid and Attenuator Systems combine the energy absorbing capabilities of a dynamic barrier with the low maintenance value advantages of cladding meshes. Rather than being attached to a lower support cable, the interception mesh is longer and lines the lower part of the slope. Therefore, a moving rock is not captured and stopped as in a traditional rockfall barrier, after impact with the barrier the rock descends down the slope, slowed by the mesh to the foot of the slope.

Hybrid systems and attenuators are used on slopes where there is space available to deposit material under the barrier where the rocks will finally rest without causing damage.

Our attenuating and hybrid barriers are supplied in kit form; All components (except anchors) are supplied in the kit, including mesh panel, posts, base plates, brakes, ropes and clips.
