ROCKFALL – Barriers

Dynamic Barriers

Our Rockfall barriers (or protection barriers) are designed to stop detached rocks and boulders before they fall onto infrastructure, roads, or other facilities.

Rockfall barriers are supplied as a mounting kit. All components (except anchors) are provided in the kit for panels, posts, base plates, fixings, cables and clips.

Rockfall dynamic barriers are available with energy absorption capacities up to 9,000 kJ.

Our barriers have been developed jointly with specialized contractors and therefore include elements that make installation faster and safer, reducing time on site.

Our Rockfall dynamic barriers are tested and certified according to the European Technical Assessment Guide 27 (ETAG 27) of the European Organization for Technical Assessment (EOTA).

Maccaferri has received European Technical Approval (ETA) for its range of barriers from 100 to 9,000 kJ of energy absorption capacity. The subsequent detailed verification of the manufacture, supply and assembly of the systems has allowed the granting of the CE mark (quality standard) for the barrier systems.

After a high impact event, the barrier is plastically deformed. The height of the barrier after the residual impact is an important characteristic; the barrier may be exposed to a second rock impact in rapid succession before it is repaired. All Maccaferri Rockfall dynamic barriers show residual heights of the best category, class A according to ETAG 027. As well as elongations of the lowest on the market.
